Taking tips at the counter and online

Switch tipping on, choose your percentages, decide who the tip belongs to, and see tips in reports. · Updated 08/09/2026

Tipping is off until you switch it on. Once it's on, customers are asked for a tip when they pay — either at the counter in the Business app or online on your booking page.

Switch tips on

  • Go to Payments › Tips in your admin.
  • Turn on Ask customers for a tip.
  • Choose whether tips show in person, online, or both.
  • Set the percentages shown as buttons, for example 5, 10, 15.
  • Decide whether customers can type their own amount.
  • Choose who the tip belongs to: the team member on the appointment, or shared with the whole team.
  • Optionally write your own message, such as "Happy with your cut? Add a tip for the team."

Only the owner or an admin can change these settings.

What customers see

Tip buttons appear above the amount they're paying, with a No tip option. The percentage is worked out on the service total, never on a deposit — nobody is asked to tip before the appointment happens.

Fees

Our fee is only calculated on the service amount. The tip passes through to you in full, in the same payout as the rest of the payment.

Seeing tips

Open Reports and pick your dates. The Tips section shows total tips, your service takings, the tip rate as a percentage, and a breakdown per team member. Team members signed in as staff see only their own tips.

Not seeing the Tips tab?

Tipping is only offered for business types where it makes sense — barbers, salons, spas, tattoo studios and pet grooming. It's switched off for estate agents and clinics.
