Take in-person payments: Tap to Pay and card readers
Use your iPhone or order a card reader that's linked to your payments account. · Updated 30/08/2026
App › Card readers is where you set up in-person payments so a walk-in can pay on the spot and the payment lands against the booking automatically.
Option 1 — Tap to Pay on iPhone
No hardware, no extra cost. With the Business app on a supported iPhone you can take contactless cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay by holding the card to the phone. You need your payments account set up first (App › Payments › Payouts & Connect).
Option 2 — a card reader
Choose from:
- Smart countertop reader — large touchscreen for a front desk.
- Handheld smart reader — take payment at the chair.
- Pocket card reader — pairs over Bluetooth, ideal for pop-ups and mobile work.
Each listing shows an indicative price (ex VAT), what it's best for and the lead time. Request one and we'll confirm the final price, register the device to your payments account and ship it ready to use.
Locations and readers
Before a reader can take payments it needs a location (usually your shop address). Add one under the Locations tab, then register the reader with the pairing code shown on its screen. You can remove a reader at any time — it stops taking payments immediately.
Where the money goes
In-person payments settle into your own payments account on your normal payout schedule, exactly like online deposits. Refunds are issued from App › Payments.
Order status
Requests appear under Orders with a status (requested, quoted, approved, ordered, shipped, delivered) plus tracking once it's dispatched.
