Tap to Pay on iPhone: your phone is now the card machine
Take contactless cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay on the iPhone already in your pocket — no card machine, no extra hardware, nothing to charge overnight.
By BookAppointment

If you take payment at the counter, you no longer need anything on the counter. Tap to Pay on iPhone turns the phone in your pocket into the card machine.
How you take a payment
- Open the Business app on your iPhone and go to Payments.
- Either type an amount under Charge any amount, or tap the price beside an appointment that hasn't been paid for.
- Ask the customer to hold their card, iPhone or watch near the top of your phone.
- That's it — the screen confirms it and the payment is saved against the booking.
Contactless cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay all work. There is nothing to pair, nothing to charge overnight and nothing to leave behind at the end of the day.
Everything else stays the same
- Tips are added the way you already have them set up
- A deposit already paid is taken off the amount due
- The money goes to your own bank account on the same schedule
- The payment shows on the booking, on the day's takings and in your reports
What you need
- An iPhone XS or newer, on a recent version of iOS
- Card payments switched on for your account
- Your shop address saved under Settings → Locations — in-person payments have to be linked to an address
Card readers still work
Nothing changes if you already use a reader. Tap to Pay is simply there as well, which is handy for mobile work, home visits, busy Saturdays and anywhere a second till would help.

Tips: let customers add a little extra, properly
Customers can now add a tip when they pay — at the counter with Tap to Pay or online at checkout. You choose the percentages, whether tips go to the team member or the whole team, and reports show exactly who earned what.
ReadMessage customers straight from the booking — plus Apple Pay and Google Pay
Tap Message on any appointment and your customer gets an email and a text with a link to read and reply — every reply stays with the booking. Checkout now shows Apple Pay and Google Pay automatically.
