Guest checkout: let customers book without creating an account

Customers can now book with just their name, mobile number and email — no account, no password. You choose whether guest checkout is on, and your chat assistant follows the same rule.

Making someone create an account before they can book is one of the quickest ways to lose them. From today every business on BookAppointment can accept guest bookings: name, mobile number, email, done.

How it works

On the booking page, customers who aren't signed in now see a short details form on the confirm step instead of a sign-in wall. Signing in is still offered underneath for anyone who wants to see and manage their bookings later, and their confirmation email and reminders work exactly the same either way.

You stay in control

Open Settings > Booking rules in your admin and you'll find the new Guest checkout switch:

  • On (the default) — customers can book with just their contact details.
  • Off — everyone signs in or registers first, which is handy if you rely on customer history, loyalty or saved cards.

If you take payment from every customer at the time of booking, guest checkout is skipped automatically so the payment can be managed properly.

Your chat assistant follows the same rule

The AI chat assistant now checks your guest checkout setting before it books anyone. With guests allowed it collects a name, phone number and email and confirms the appointment in the chat. With guests switched off it politely sends the customer to your booking page to sign in or register — it never asks anyone for a password.

What still needs an account

Anything that needs paperwork or proof stays account-only: services with intake forms, patch tests, vaccination records or minimum-age checks. Those customers are sent to the full booking flow so nothing important is skipped.

Nothing to set up — guest checkout is already live on your booking page.
